Join us this Small Business Saturday, November 30, from 12 to 5 pm, for a pop-up showing of handcrafted Dala horses by Duluth artist, Tara Austin and one-of-a-kind books by Kathy McTavish. We’re delighted to be showcasing these immensely talented artists and can’t wait to share their work with you in time for the holidays!
Tara Austin* has applied her unique approach to the traditional Norwegian art of rosmaling to the Swedish Dalahäst, or Dala horse. Handcrafted out of 3/4 inch thick acrylic, Tara paints on both sides of the horse using similar decorative motifs and mark-making as she does in her large paintings on glass and plexiglass. No two horses bear the same design, are signed by the artist, and are priced at $95.00 each.
Kathy McTavish** has created a new set of books of her code-derived digital graphics in advance of her new show – "count map pulse breathe" – opening December 13, 2019 at JNG. Each book is one-of-a-kind, containing a different collection of digital prints, and priced at $60.00 each. Kathy's books were very popular last year, so this is your chance to get ahead of the rush before the December 13th opening!
If you’re like us, you wait until the last minute in to buy unique gifts for family and friends. It doesn’t get any more unique than this! This is an excellent opportunity to purchase beautiful, one-of-a-kind art objects, by two of our favorite local artists – priced affordably for Holiday gift-giving. Bring some inspiration into the lives of those you care about while supporting local art!
We hope to see you very soon.
